UK trade deficit up to record £27.9B in Q2.
The United Kingdom’s total trade deficit, excluding precious metals, rose by £2 billion in the three months ending with June to stand at £27.9 billion, the Office for National Statistics said in a report published on Friday, the Tele Trader.
The quarterly deficit reading in current prices is the highest since trade data started being tracked in 1997.
n the second quarter, the goods deficit went up by £1.5 billion to £62.6 billion, with imports of goods increasing by £12.2 billion or 8.3%, and exports of goods rising by £10.7 billion or 12.4%.
The services surplus decreased by £500 million to £34.7 billion in the second three-month period of 2022.
