Azerbaijan’s and Iran’s Defence chiefs held discussions regarding exercises on the border: Embassy
“The maneuvers and exercises of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the northwestern region (recently started on the border with Armenia) are carried out in accordance with the annual activity calendar and periodic exercises of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. As well as, taking into consideration the friendly and brotherly relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, an official note was sent to the Azerbaijani side before the start of the exercises,” noted in the statement of the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan,
The embassy recalled that the Azerbaijani and Iranian military leadership conducted a discussion on military exercises on the border with Azerbaijan.
‘In addition to this note, some proposals were put forward in the meeting of Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran with Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov which are implemented in the exercises which are currently carried out. Relations of two friendly and brotherly countries the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have always been the target of extensive propaganda by enemies, but the wakefulness of the leaders of the two countries prevented them from achieving their goals,” noted the statement.
