DURING THE PANDEMIC, THE CANCELLATION OF FINES WRITTEN TO CITIZENS WILL BE DISCUSSED
A legislative package to remove the fines of those fined during the pandemic will be presented to the Bureau of the Parliament of Georgia.
The said legislative package is expected to be adopted tomorrow . According to the relevant draft law, citizens fined for violating the rules applicable due to the pandemic will be exempted from administrative fines and obligations to pay fines. Besides, the persons against whom a criminal case was opened for violating the mentioned rules will also be amnesty. According to the information, more than 245 thousand citizens and 344 legal entities will be exempted from administrative fines. This means 76 million lari. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that this decision was made considering that citizens are facing severe socio-economic problems due to the pandemic:“During the pandemic, many of our citizens and also their workplaces experienced socio-economic problems. 2020 was a very difficult year and these penalties are an additional burden for our citizens, ” the Prime Minister said.
