Norway opens embassy in Georgia
The Kingdom of Norway on Monday opened an embassy in Tbilisi, according to the press service of the Georgian Foreign Ministry, reports TASS.
“On behalf of the Government of Georgia, I welcome the opening of the Norwegian representation in Georgia and wish our Norwegian colleagues every success in their future activities. We are pleased that the number of foreign missions accredited in Georgia is growing, which turns Tbilisi into a regional diplomatic hub,” the press cites – the service of the words of the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili, who was present at the opening ceremony of the embassy.
The opening of the diplomatic mission was timed to coincide with the working visit of Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt to Tbilisi. She has already held bilateral talks with her Georgian counterpart. The Norwegian diplomat was also received by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili. The parties discussed the intensification of bilateral relations through NATO.
